Apply Graphics and Decals on Bike

Bikes look ordinary. Others might do it to hide any dent or scratches from their automobile. So, if you too are looking for similar solutions or graphic installations then read this quick, professional guide on how you can apply and install the graphic kits on your bike:

Before you start

Inspect whether the plastic of the graphic kit you purchased. It looks defective, scuffed or scratched then you should get it replaced. Before you apply the graphics to your bike, you need to make sure that the bought plastic is in good condition.

For installation you will need:

• – adhesive paper tape;
• – paper knife / scissors;
• – hair dryer or heat gun;
• – degreasing agent or alcohol-water mixture;
• – squeegee (optional);

Now wash your hands as clean hands will help you prepare surface better and also keep the application area cleaners. If your hands have any dirt or oil over them then your graphics are likely to loose their stickiness.

Now you need to prepare the surface. If your bike has some pre-installed graphics or tattoos then remove it completely. You can use a hair dryer or heat gun warm up the old graphic and then clean the surface through a degreasing agent. You must not leave any sort of glue residues on the surface. Before you apply the new sticker, the bike material should be warmed up well.

Apply the Graphic:

Now place the Decal graphics over the spot you want to install them and tape down the decal on it. This will help to hold it in place. Use as much tape as you want to be comfortable. Now peel off the backing paper from the background of the decal to till its middle. Cut the peeled part and check the alignment of the decal, whether it is as you desired or not!

Scooter V-Belt

DISCLAIMER: Maintenance, disassembly and repair of your scooter should only be performed by people with sufficient mechanical skill or experience so that no unsafe repair or modifications are made.

Before you begin a scooter v-belt replacement, make sure you have ordered a new belt that is the correct size for your scooter. Also, a word to the wise, a cheap belt will cost you more down the road. It is recommended to buy either a brand name or premium belt such as a Gates Powerlink or Kevlar Belt. They will last longer than a cheaper standard belt.

Let’s begin! First you will need to remove the CVT cover from the engine to expose the drive train of your scooter. The cover is held in place by a handful of bolts. Once the bolts have been removed, you may need to give a gentle tap on the CVT cover with a soft rubber mallet. Always use a rubber mallet to avoid marring or flattening the cover. A gentle tap usually will help “pop” the CVT cover free from the engine.

Once the CVT cover is off, inspect the inside of the CVT. Usually the belt will be shredded and there will be a lot of belt debris. Remove the old belt and clean out all debris from the CVT, variator and clutch. Any debris left in the CVT will likely cause further problems later on.

Now you need to remove the outside half of the variator. A 17 mm socket will be needed to remove the nut. This is probably the most difficult part, as the engine will want to turn with the variator. This is where the impact gun comes in handy. If you do not have an impact gun, you can use a block of wood and a flat screwdriver as a wedge.

Once the nut has been removed, pull off the variator top half. A quick inspection of the roller weights inside is necessary to ensure there are no flat spots or excessive wear. Replace the roller weights if this the case. Now check the clutch pulley operation. You are making sure that the pulley can move freely when compressing with your fingers. To install the belt on the clutch first you will need to compress the clutch. Leave enough slack to loop the scooter belt back on to the crankshaft where the variator will be reinstalled.

Checklist For A Motorcycling Trip

Let’s run through a checklist that you must bear in mind before hitting the road for that much longed for road trip with your friends.

A drawback you are likely to have to put up with is that a motorbike is unlikely to offer you the same storage capacity as in line with a car. A conventional motorbike would let you carry a nice rucksack over your shoulders and a saddle bag for some additional storage.

  • T: Tires. The tires should be well inflated. If you carry a pressure monitor with you, that should meet its purpose. If you feel that a tire might need replacement while the journey lasts, why not have it replaced!
  • C is for controls. Are your entire clutch, brakes and cables operating well?
  • L stands for lights. Make sure that high and low beam lights, turn indicators and tail light are all in excellent condition.
  • O is for oils and fluids. You must check everything, starting from engine oil, coolant and brake fluid.
  • C: Chassis. Frame, chain and fasteners should all be intact and in a great working condition.
  • S: Stands. The side stands and centre stand should both not be cracked or bent. Stand springs should be in an excellent condition, such that these hold the assembly away from the pavement when you set the bike into motion.

Injury and Fatality Data

Only about two percent of the total number of registered vehicles in the United States are motorcycles. However, these vehicles represent about five percent of all highway fatalities that occur each year in this country. The disparity between these two percentages illustrates the high number of people killed when they choose this type of transportation. In a motorcycle accident, about 80 percent of the time, the rider is either injured or killed. With an automobile accident, occupants of the car are only injured or killed about 20 percent of the time.

Comparison of Vehicles

The reason for the high number of incidences resulting in both injury and death with motorcycles is mainly due to the lack of protection. With a car, people have the heavy structure of the vehicle around them. The roof and door beams protect in the event of a rollover or impact. Automobile restraints and airbags also offer important protection from injury and death in accidents. Cars are also much heavier and bulkier. The stability of four wheels is a vast improvement over two wheels. It’s also more difficult to see motorcycles on the road due to their smaller size. This difficulty means that sometimes other drivers simply don’t see a motorcycle, which can contribute to serious accidents.

Agility Factor

While these vehicles do have some serious safety issues, there are some positive factors. A person riding a motorcycle has better maneuverability and agility on the road. This driver can often stop faster and swerve to avoid obstacles. While these are important benefits, they do not completely offset the negative safety issues.

Staying Safe

– Before choosing this two-wheeled form of transportation, a rider should take and complete a training course that teaches skills and safety. At the end of the course, the student should pass a test to certify the skills.

– When riding, it is best to remain constantly vigilant for dangers. Defensive driving is an important tactic. Try to anticipate what other drivers may do. Along with staying alert, assume that other drivers will not see you.

– Use extreme caution at intersections. Intersections present serious dangers, and they are the location where most accidents occur for motorcycles.

– Remaining visible is one of the most important goals. Never ride in another vehicle’s blind spot.

– Avoid riding in inclement weather due to obstacles and slippery surfaces. A lack of windshield wipers can reduce your ability to see.

– Ride with a helmet, eye protection, and appropriate clothing. Long pants, a jacket, and gloves can help reduce the severity of injuries.

– Never ride when under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
